I bought it for a friend that has a small store they love that it's Scans items quickly.. Love it
This scanner reminds me of the scanners normally used in small shops. It has a similar design and form factor.
Included in the box:
Barcode scanner
Proprietary usb power cable (RJ45)
Relatively large programming manual
The scanner itself measures 3.125 x 3 x 6.125 inches, and weighs 10.2 ounces.
From my experiences with it, it handles pretty much any sort of traditional barcode thrown at it.
QR codes, on the other hand, were a bit of a different story. I could get it to scan industrial QR codes, of several styles… But it would rarely be able to decode the mainstream three eye styled QR codes made popular by pretty much any form of advertising.
I have no idea why this is the case, as it says these specific codes are supported in the manual.
That aside, this scanner uses a traditional cmos camera to capture and decode barcodes. It has a red light array in the front, for illuminating the surface it's attempting to capture from.
The manual covers everything from how to handle specific barcode types, to programming functions for audio, and tone settings, as well as sleep timers and general functionality tweaks.
They managed to fit more than enough information within the manual to give the end user the necessary information to most effectively use the scanner.
To be fair, this scanner is better suited to those who require a method to track stock, or inventory. If this is where you fall, this would be an excellent choice to have on hand, for the price.
Of course, anyone can use it. If you need to keep track of bins of small parts, or something along those lines, it would work well for that too.
